The State Street bridge over the Chicago River will close for 10 days beginning Wednesday for construction on the Chicago Riverwalk.

The bridge will close to all traffic from 6 a.m. Wednesday through the afternoon of Saturday, Aug. 23, according to the Chicago Department of Transportation.

During the closure, all northbound vehicles — including CTA buses — will be detoured west to LaSalle via Wacker, and back east to State via Illinois, according to the statement. Southbound vehicles will detour west to Clark via Grand, and back to State via Wacker.

Bikes will be detoured west to cross the river on the two-way bike lanes on Dearborn, according to the statement.

The Riverwalk construction project will create a continuous pedestrian path along the south bank of the river from State to Lake streets.
