(CHICAGO HEIGHTS) An 18-year-old man died after he was shot Monday night in south suburban Chicago Heights.

Erin C. Knox, 18, was shot in the 500 block of Minette Lane about 8:50 p.m. Monday, according to a statement from Chicago Heights police.

Knox, of the 300 block of Winnebago in Park Forest, was airlifted to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 3:47 a.m. Tuesday, according to police.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office did not confirm the fatality.

Chicago Heights police are investigating along with the South Suburban Major Crime Task Force and Illinois State Police.
