Boy, 17, shot in Evanston

(EVANSTON) Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the person who shot a 17-year-old boy Sunday evening in north suburban Evanston.

The teenager was shot about 5:15 p.m. in the 1800 block of Hartrey Avenue, according to a statement from Evanston police.

Investigators have persons of interest in custody for the shooting, and believe the shooting may be gang-related, police said.

Anyone with information on the shooting should contact police at (847) 866-5000, or use the Text-A-Tip program by texting to CRIMES (274637) and placing EPDTIP in the message line with the anonymous information. A cash reward is offered for information that leads to the shooter’s arrest.
