The price of gasoline in the Chicago area dipped 7 cents a gallon in the past week.
Motorists pay an average $3.63 a gallon in the metro area, down from $3.70 a week earlier, according to the AAA Fuel Gauge Report. Gas cost $3.75 a gallon a year ago.
According to the Lundberg Survey released Sunday, the average nationwide price dipped 4 cents a gallon in the past two weeks to $3.48. Of cities surveyed in the Lower 48 states, the lowest price, $3.11, was in Jackson, Mississippi. San Francisco had the highest price at $3.92.
In the city of Chicago, gasoline prices slipped a nickel last week to $3.83. Statewide, the price average $3.51 a gallon, down from $3.57 a week ago, AAA reported.
