(VILLA PARK) A west suburban man was arrested Saturday and charged with driving a truck that was stolen from a driveway in Villa Park last month.

Saul Rodriguez, 25, of Villa Park, faces one felony count of possession of a stolen vehicle, and misdemeanor counts of driving with a revoked license and obstructing a peace officer, according to a statement from Villa Park police.

About 9 a.m. July 31, officers responded to a home in the 100 block of South Harvard Avenue where a man reported that his 2000 Chevrolet Silverado was stolen from his driveway overnight, police said.

The keys to the truck were stolen from another vehicle which was also parked in the driveway, police said.

At 4:55 a.m. Aug. 2, officers on patrol saw the Silverado traveling eastbound on West Sunset Drive near North Addison Road, police said.

While the patrol officers followed the truck, the driver sped to an alley on the next block and parked the vehicle, police said. He then jumped out and ran towards Addison Road.

After a brief chase, an officer was able apprehend him.

Rodriguez, who is currently on parole for burglary, is being held at the DuPage County Jail on a $75,000 bond.
