Groupon fills lead tech job

Parker Barrile

Groupon Inc. has hired a LinkedIn vice president to lead the Chicago-based company’s global product teams focused on web, mobile and design.

Parker Barrile is Groupon’s new senior vice president of product. He was a vice president of product management at LinkedIn.

“Parker brings tremendous value to Groupon both as an entrepreneur and an established, effective product leader in global tech organizations,” Groupon CEO Eric Lefkofsky said in a news release. “He will help us evolve our local commerce platform to further engage our customers and help make Groupon a premier online shopping destination.”

Barrile succeeds Jeff Holden, who left early this year to become chief product officer at Uber in San Francisco.
