Two teenagers — a boy and a girl — were shot Thursday night in the South Chicago neighborhood.

About 7:15 p.m., the two were outside in the 8900 block of South Houston when a person walked up from an alley and opened fire, police News Affairs Officer Bari Lemmon said.

The boy, 17, was shot in the chest and abdomen and taken to Christ Medical Center in critical condition, Lemmon said. The girl, also 17, was shot in both legs and taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where her condition had stabilized, police said.
