Arthur Andersen name being revived

The Arthur Andersen name is being revived more than a decade after the auditing firm was crushed in the fallout from the Enron Corp. accounting scandal.

San Francisco tax consultancy WTAS LLC, started by a group of former Andersen partners, is now using the name Andersen Tax.

Chief executive Mark Vorsatz said his firm made a “thoughtful, deliberative decision” to take the Andersen name after polling decision makers in the U.S., United Kingdom, France and China.

“To be clear, we are not an audit firm and have no intention of providing audit services,” Vorsatz said in a news release announcing the firm’s name change.

WTAS, which stands for Wealth & Tax Advisory Services, has added nearly 40 partners and nine offices across Europe in the past 14 months, with more additions expected before the end of the year.

“We all share a vision of creating a premier independent tax firm that delivers best-in-class service in a seamless fashion across the globe,” Vorsatz said. “To achieve that, we needed one common name. Accordingly, we are becoming Andersen Tax.”
