SHARE 16-year-old boy shot in Washington Park

A teenage boy was shot multiple times after an argument over a cell phone Sunday night in the South Side Washington Park neighborhood.

The 16-year-old was in the 5800 block of South Michigan a few minutes before 9 p.m. when someone walked up and fired shots, police said.

He was shot in the shoulder and abdomen and taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition had stabilized, police said. The shooter is believed to be a male the victim had previously argued with over a cell phone, according to a police report.

The shooting does not appear to be gang-realted, police said.

No one is in custody.
