No citations will be issued to the driver of a dump truck which fatally struck an elderly woman Thursday afternoon in northwest suburban Des Plaines.

Police and firefighters responded about 2:15 p.m. to a strip mall in the 700 block of Golf Road for an accident involving a pedestrian, Des Plaines Fire Chief Alan Wax said.

Lilah M. DePaul, 94, was struck and killed by a westbound truck in a parking lot there, a statement from Des Plaines police said.

DePaul, of the 200 block of Rob Roy Lane in Prospect Heights, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. An autopsy on Friday showed she died of multiple injuries from the accident and ruled her death an accident.

A second person was taken by ambulance to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, Wax said, but further details on his or her involvement or condition was not immediately known.

Police said Friday morning that the driver of the truck, a 29-year-old Woodstock man, will not be charged or ticketed.
