Authorities have identified a woman found dead after a fire in a garage last week in the Southwest Side Chicago Lawn neighborhood.
Officers responded to a garage fire in the 6600 block of South Campbell about 11:30 a.m., police said. After the fire was extinguished, authorities found what appeared to be a dead female.
The woman, identified as 32-year-old Cherry Wilson, was “severely burned,” according to a spokesman for the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Wilson, of the 5200 block of South May, was dead at the scene, the medical examiner’s office said. An autopsy Tuesday was inconclusive pending further studies.
Area Central detectives are conducting a death investigation.
