A homeless man who was discovered dead in Northwest Side building in November is Cook County’s 24th cold-related death of the season.
Oleh Tytarenko, 56, was discovered in an abandoned building in the 3400 block of North Narragansett on Nov. 14, 2014, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
He was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:45 p.m., according to the medical examiner’s office.
An autopsy at the time was inconclusive, but additional tests found he died of heart disease, acute alcohol toxicity and cold exposure. His death was ruled an accident.
Tytarenko is the 24th confirmed cold-related death in Cook County this season, according to a spokesman for the medical examiner’s office. During the 2013-14 winter season, there were 32 cold deaths.
