A suspicious person approached an elementary school student Wednesday afternoon in west suburban Elmhurst.

The student was walking home from Emerson Elementary School near Fremont and Highland about 3:40 p.m. when the male pulled his vehicle alongside the student and said, “You’re so cute,” according to a statement from Elmhurst police.

While talking to the student, the man had his arm out the window holding a cellphone, possibly to take a picture, police said. The man did not get out of his vehicle and the student returned home without incident.

The suspect is described as a white man in his 20s with curly brown hair, and he was driving a dark gray, newer-model SUV.

School officials were notified of the incident. Anyone with information is asked to call Elmhurst police at (630) 530-3057.
