A man was killed in a north suburban traffic crash early Saturday, police said.

About 2:45 a.m., a Volkswagen Beetle and a semi collided at the intersection of Peterson and Harris Roads in Libertyville, according to a statement from Libertyville police.

A 22-year-old man riding in the Volkswagen’s passenger seat was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The 22-year-old woman who had been driving was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with minor injuries.

The 41-year-old woman driving the semi was not hurt, police said.

No charges had been filed in connection with the crash as of late Saturday morning. Toxicology results were pending, police said.
