A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle Friday night in northwest suburban Wheeling.

A vehicle attempting to turn struck the man — described only as an adult — at 9:30 p.m. near the intersection of Elmhurst and Dennis roads, according to Wheeling police and fire officials.

He was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where he was in critical condition Sunday afternoon, police said.

The driver of the vehicle, who did not show signs of impairment, stayed at the scene and has been “very cooperative” with the investigation, police said.

Police declined to release more details because of the ongoing investigation.
