Two men died early Tuesday when a motorcycle struck a pedestrian in southwest suburban Plainfield.

Sean Fitzpatrick, 27, was riding a motorcycle north on Route 59 near Lockport Street when he apparently lost control and the bike struck a pedestrian, according to Plainfield police and the Will County coroner’s office.

Fitzpatrick, of Plainfield, was taken to Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, where he was pronounced dead at 12:39 a.m., the coroner’s office said.

The pedestrian, 56-year-old Plainfield resident Randal B. Lambert, was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:55 a.m., according to police and the coroner’s office.

Both died of multiple injuries from the crash, according to the coroner’s office. The final causes and manners of deaths will be determined following toxicological testing and police investigation.

Route 59 was closed between Lockport and Main streets following the crash, but had fully reopened as of 4:45 p.m., Plainfield police said.
