A man was injured Monday afternoon in a fire in a high-rise building in the Edgewater neighborhood on the North Side.

The blaze broke out on the sixth floor of a 12-story high-rise in the 5800 block of North Sheridan about 12:40 p.m., according to Fire Media Deputy District Chief Jeff Lyle.

The fire was struck out fairly quickly, according to Lyle, who said an EMS Plan 1 and still and box alarm had been secured as of 1:10 p.m.

A man, thought to be in his 20s, was injured in the blaze, and was taken to Weiss Memorial Hospital in fair condition with non-life-threatening injuries, he said.

Fire officials did not evacuate the high-rise, and the cause of the blaze remains under investigation, Lyle said.
