A man was ticketed for his role in a crash that killed an 82-year-old man Friday evening when his truck was struck head-on in southwest suburban Joliet.

Jorge Contreras, 20, of Joliet, was cited for improper lane usage, Illinois State Police said.

About 5:40 p.m. Friday, Contreras’ Buick Enclave was westbound on Hillcrest Road near U.S. 30 when it crossed into the eastbound lanes “for unknown reasons” and struck a Ford truck, Illinois State Police said.

Glenn E. Trost, 82, who was driving the Ford, was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:45 p.m., according to the Will County coroner’s office.

Preliminary autopsy results found Trost, of New Lenox, died of multiple injuries suffered in the crash, the coroner’s office said. Final cause of death will be determined pending police, autopsy and toxicology reports.

Three people in the vehicle that caused the crash were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, state police said.
