A woman died after she was found injured as firefighters battled a blaze Tuesday afternoon at a building in the Logan Square neighborhood on the Northwest Side.
Authorities responded to a fire at a home in the 1900 block of North Washtenaw and discovered a person at 12:08 p.m., according to police.
Angela M. Carini, 37, who lived in the building, was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 3:27 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
According to a police source, she suffered a stab wound and burns. Fire Media said she suffered “traumatic injuries” that were not necessarily related to the fire.
An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.
The relatively small fire, which may have started in a bathroom, was quickly extinguished, according to Fire Media.
