A 24-year-old northwest suburban man died after he fell from a catwalk during a concert Friday night at the Aragon Ballroom in Uptown.

Kyle Kirchoff fell from a catwalk during the Chevelle concert at the Aragon Ballroom at 1106 W. Lawrence Ave. at 10:21 p.m., authorities said.

He fell onto two pieces of metal protruding from the floor and suffered two punctures wounds to his chest, police said.

Kirchoff, of the 3800 block of Pondview Drive in Hanover Park, was taken to Weiss Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead later that night, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

An autopsy Saturday did not rule on Kirchoff’s cause and manner of death pending further investigation, according to the medical examiner’s office.

“To our fans at the Chicago show: We are very sorry we had to end the show early,” according to a post on Chevelle’s Facebook page.

“Due to a serious injury in the crowd the fire marshal was forced to cancel the rest of the show. We hope that whoever was injured makes a swift recovery,” according to the post.

Area North detectives are conducting a death investigation, police said.
