State child welfare authorities are no longer investigating Friday’s death of a 10-month-old west suburban girl.
Arryah Smith, who lived in the 1700 block of North 24th Avenue inMelrose Park, was pronounced dead at Gottlieb Memorial Hospitalin Melrose Park at 5:35 p.m. Friday, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.An autopsy Saturday was inconclusive, with results pending further studies.
The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services initially looked into allegations of neglect in connection with Arryah’s death, but as of Tuesday morning was no longer investigating, spokeswoman Veronica Resa said.
Melrose Park police were also investigating.
