Flooding: Some closures, Illinois River

The persistent rains and flooding are starting to have some lingering impacts on state sites. (FYI, the photo is a file shot, that is not how the Illinois River looks now.)

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources sent this:

Due to high water on the Illinois River, the lower main parking area and boat launch at Starved Rock State Park near Utica is closed. The river currently is flooding the parking area and is forecast to remain above flood stage for at least the next three days. In addition, some trails at Matthiessen State Park will be closed due to the flooding.
