A 23-year-old woman is in critical condition after falling from a second-story balcony early Thursday near DePaul University’s Lincoln Park campus on the North Side.

She was leaning over the balcony railing about 12:40 a.m. when she fell from the building in the 2200 block of North Halsted, police said.

The woman was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in critical condition. Police said the fall appeared to be accidental.
