A 46-year-old man died after he was pulled from Lake Michigan on Sunday afternoon on the South Side.

Authorities responded to a person in the water in the 3700 block of South Lake Shore Drive about 4:30 p.m., police said.

Jose R. Ebariaz-Quezda was pulled from the water and taken to University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 7:37 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

An autopsy Monday found he drowned and his death was ruled an accident.
