A 27-year-old man shot to death in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side on Sunday evening has been identified.

Byron Driver was on the sidewalk about 7:15 p.m. in the 100 block of North Cicero when several people walked up to him and opened fire, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Driver, of the 2800 block of West Polk, was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he died at 7:48 p.m., authorities said.

Police said he had documented gang ties.
