Man pulled from Lake Michigan identified

A 28-year-old man who died Friday morning after being pulled out of Lake Michigan near Belmont Harbor on the North Side has been identified.

The Chicago Police Marine Unit was called about a person in the water near the 300 block of West Belmont at 10:10 a.m., police said.

Donald Wilson was unresponsive when he was pulled out of the water, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Wilson, of the 5900 block of West Belle Plaine, was taken to Saint Joseph Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:23 p.m., according to the medical examiner’s office.

An autopsy on Saturday did not rule on Wilson’s cause and manner of death, with results pending further studies.
