A 14-year-old boy was struck by a freight train Monday morning while walking in the Southwest Side Clearing neighborhood.

The boy was struck in the 5900 block of South Natoma at 11 a.m., police said. He was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood with an injury to his leg.

Additional details were not immediately known.
