A man who committed suicide Monday night after barricading himself in a vehicle for at least an hour in the South Side Auburn Gresham neighborhoodhas been identified.

About 8:25 p.m., officers responding to a call of a suspicious person in the 8600 block of South Throop found the man sitting alone in a vehicle with a gun, police said.

Demario J. Moore, 36,barricaded himself inside the vehicle for at least an hour before he got out and shot himself in the chest,according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Moore, of the 15000 block of Lincoln Avenue in Harvey,was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead, authorities said.

An autopsy Wednesday found he died of a gunshot wound to the chest and his death was ruled a suicide.
