Bicyclist severely injured in Glendale Heights crash

A bicyclist suffered severe injuries in a crash with a van Tuesday afternoon in west suburban Glendale Heights.

The 29-year-old Glen Ellyn man was biking east on the shoulder of the 600 block of North Avenue about 2:30 p.m. when he collided with a Toyota van coming from the opposite direction, according to Glendale Heights police.

He was taken to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove with “severe injuries,” police said.

The 55-year-old Glendale Heights man at the wheel of the van stayed at the scene and wasn’t hurt, police said.

Police are still investigating. Anyone with information on the crash should call investigators at (630) 260-6070.
