Ricketts family buys 3 more Wrigley rooftop businesses

The Ricketts family, owners of the Chicago Cubs, have bought three more Wrigley rooftop businesses, a family spokesman confirmed Wednesday.

That means the Ricketts now own nine of the 16 rooftop buildings. All three of the purchases, which were finalized Tuesday, are along Waveland Avenue, family spokesman Dennis Culloton said.

Last October, a federal judge dismissed a lawsuit against the Cubs by Wrigleyville rooftop owners who accused the Cubs of monopolization, defamation and breach of contract for erecting a new video board above the right-field bleachers at Wrigley Field that threatened to block the rooftops’ lucrative views.

Culloton said the Ricketts family would “certainly entertain purchasing other rooftops.”

“They’ve been buying them when sellers are interested,” Culloton said. “It’s been a very good way to improve overall amenities and offer Cubs fans one-stop shopping at wrigleyrooftopsllc.com.”
