A 30-year-old man was seriously injured Monday after he crashed his car into a tree in northwest Indiana.

At 7:55 a.m., Porter County sheriff’s officers responded to the 0-100 block of South Sager Road in unincorporated Morgan Township, just south of Valparaiso, for a singlevehicle accident with ejection, according to a statement from the sheriff’s office.

Jonathan Rush of Valparaiso was driving south on Sager Road in a grey 2005 Buick Lacrosse and, for unknown reasons, traveled left of center into the northbound lanes before driving off the road into a tree, police said.

Rush was ejected out of the rear of his vehicle, but was conscious and breathing when officers arrived. He was airlifted to Memorial Hospital of South Bend with “incapacitating injuries,” police said. Toxicology test results are pending.

Rush was cited for driving left of center and not wearing a seatbelt.
