A man died four years after he was shot in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

Ricardo Villanueva, 31, was shot in the 6000 block of South Francisco at 2:26 p.m. Dec. 10, 2011, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office and Chicago Police.

Villanueva, of the 4800 block of South Hoyne Avenue, suffered gunshot wounds to the neck, elbow and leg, and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center for treatment, police said.

At 35, Villanueva died in Brentwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Burbank at 3:57 p.m. Tuesday, according to the medical examiner.

An autopsy Wednesday found he died of complications of remote gunshot wounds. His death was ruled a homicide.
