A man who was killed in a crash early on New Year’s Day in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side has been identified.

Witnesses told investigators the 2004 Nissan was speeding northbound in the 600 block of North Pulaski about 3 a.m. Friday when the driver lost control and struck a building, according to Chicago Police.

The driver, identified as 31-year-old Javaris J. Curry, was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he died at 7:08 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. No one else was in the car.

Curry, of the 1000 block of North Monticello, died of multiple injuries from an automobile striking a building and his death was ruled an accident, according to the medical examiner’s office.

The police Major Accidents Investigation Unit is investigating.
