A 20-year-old man is in critical condition after he was trapped in a garage during a fire Tuesday night in south suburban Country Club Hills.

Crews responded to the garage fire in the 18600 block of Baker Avenue at 8:48 p.m., according to a statement from the Country Club Hills fire department.

A 20-year-old man was trapped in the garage and firefighters forced entry through the side door to rescue him, according to the statement.

He was taken to Franciscan St. James Hospital in Olympia Fields, where he remains in critical condition as of Wednesday afternoon, according to the statement.

No other victims were found and the fire was quickly extinguished. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
