Two elderly people were injured early Monday when a fire broke out in an Ashburn neighborhood home on the Southwest Side.

Firefighters responded shortly before 4 a.m. to the blaze at the single-family home in the 7600 block of South Artesian Avenue, according to Fire Media Affairs.

Fire officials said the fire started on the second floor of the home.

An elderly couple was injured in the blaze, fire officials said. They were both taken in fair-to-serious condition to Holy Cross Hospital.

The Chicago Fire Department Office of Fire Investigation was at the scene investigating.
