A 28-year-old woman was killed early Monday when her SUV crashed into a concrete barrier and pole on the Dan Ryan Expressway on the South Side.

The single-vehicle crash happened about 1:40 a.m. in the inbound lanes of the I-94 near 87th Street, according to Illinois State Police.

Sabrina A. Echols was pinned in the vehicle and had to be extricated before being taken to St. Bernard Hospital, where she died at 230 a.m., according to state police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. She lived in the 4900 block of South Prairie.

An autopsy found she died of multiple injuries from the crash and her death was ruled an accident.

The cause of the crash is is under investigation.
