A 79-year-old Lincoln Park woman was struck and killed by a car in the Old Irving Park neighborhood Tuesday evening on the Northwest Side.

Young Hong was in a crosswalk in the 4700 block of West Berteau when the vehicle hit her about 5:40 p.m., according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Hong was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where she died at 8:15 p.m., authorities said. She lived in the 400 block of West Fullerton.

The driver stayed at the scene and was ticketed for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk. CPD’s Major Accident Investigation unit is still reviewing the case.
