Second man killed in Flossmoor crash identified

Two men were killed in a crash Sunday night in south suburban Flossmoor.

A 2006 Infiniti was southbound in the 19800 block of Crawford Avenue about 9:20 a.m. when the driver tried to pass a 2005 GMC, according to Flossmoor police. The Infiniti crashed into the GMC and both vehicles left the road, a statement from police said.

The driver of the GMC, identified as 52-year-old Robert Munse, was taken to St. James Hospital in Olympia Fields, where he was pronounced dead at 12:36 a.m. Monday, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. Munse lived in the 19400 block of Oak Avenue in Country Club Hills.

One of two passengers in the Infiniti, 22-year-old Maurice Champion, was also taken to St. James, where he was pronounced dead at 10:20 p.m. Sunday, according to the medical examiner’s office. Champion lived in the 700 block of Blackhawk Drive in University Park.

The 24-year-old driver of the Infiniti and a second passenger were also taken to the hospital, police said.

The crash remains under investigation by police and the Suburban Major Accident Reconstruction Team.
