Divers searching Diversey Harbor for a person believed to be in the water Thursday afternoon have halted their search due to the weather.

The Chicago Police Marine Unit and Chicago Fire Department divers responded to a call of a person swept into Lake Michigan by a wave at Diversey Harbor at 2601 N. Cannon Dr. about 11:40 a.m., according to Chicago Police and Fire Media Affairs. The victim is a 17 or 18-year-old boy.

Four divers searched the harbor for about an hour, but had to suspend the search due to “extreme turbulence,” according to Fire Media.
