The reconstructed 63rd Street bridge over the Dan Ryan Expressway reopened to drivers and pedestrians on Friday.

The bridge closed in September 2014, and reopened Friday, though temporary lane closures will still be necessary to complete remaining traffic signal work and pavement marking, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation.

Drivers should pay attention for flaggers and signs in work zones.

The project was started in 2014 with an estimated cost of $8.35 million, authorities said.
