Several homes and a senior center were evacuated Wednesday for a gas leak at a construction site in Austin on the West Side.

A construction crew hit a gas line about 11:15 a.m. in the 5200 block of West Jackson Boulevard, according to preliminary information from Chicago police.

There were no reported injuries.
