A man was killed and woman wounded in a shooting Saturday in Austin.

They were sitting in a car about 5:15 p.m. in the 200 block of South Lavergne Avenue when someone fired shots at them, Chicago police said.

Vincent Hardy, 23, was struck in the head and rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he died, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. Hardy lived in South Shore.

The 20-year-old woman was hit in the left thigh and taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition, police said.

Area North detectives are conducting a homicide investigation.
