A 25-year-old Creston man died and another was injured after crashing a vehicle Thursday into a tree near St. Charles.

A Chevy Trailblazer was headed north about 4 p.m. when it left the roadway and hit a tree, ejecting both occupants, just before Fox River and Weber drives, the Kane County sheriff’s office said in a statement.

The driver, Austin B. Johnsen, was taken to Delnor Hospital in Geneva and pronounced dead, the sheriff’s office said.

The passenger, a 26-year-old Sycamore man, was flown to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove for treatment.

The sheriff’s office is investigating the crash.
