A man was killed, and a 5-year-old girl was among three others wounded in a shooting in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood on the South Side on Tuesday night.
A group of people were sitting on the front porch of a home in the 8600 block of South Damen just before 7:30 p.m. when at least two people walked out of a nearby alley and opened fire, Chicago Police Sgt. Rocco Alioto told reporters.
Paul Boyd, a 37-year-old Hazel Crest man, was killed in the shooting, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. He was struck twice in the chest and taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead.
A 5-year-old girl was shot in the foot and taken to Christ Medical Center in good condition, police said. A 22-year-old man was shot in the leg, and a 24-year-old man was shot in both arms. Both were in good condition at Little Company of Mary Hospital.
About a dozen neighbors gathered on their porches and watched as detectives and evidence technicians investigated and processed the crime scene. More than a dozen evidence markers could be seen in front of two homes on the west side of Damen.
