A 24-year-old man died from a gunshot wound Monday morning at Mt. Sinai Hospital on the West Side.

Someone dropped him off about 6:45 a.m. at the hospital in the 1500 block of South Fairfield Avenue and drove off, Chicago police said.

The man, shot in the upper chest, was later pronounced dead, police said.

He was identified as Ronald Jackson of Austin, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

It wasn’t immediately clear if he was shot over the weekend, when more than 100 people in Chicago were wounded in gun violence.

A police spokeswoman said officers did not have information about when or where he was shot.

Four detectives are investigating.
