A man accidentally fell onto CTA Red Line tracks at 69th Street early Monday and was fatally struck by a train.

An oncoming train hit the man about 2:18 a.m. after he fell off the platform in the first block of West 69th Street, Chicago police said.

Eric Devon Miller, 57, died on the scene, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

An autopsy found he died of injuries from the collision, the medical examiner’s office said. His death was ruled accidental.

Red Line service was suspended between the Garfield and 95th stations until 5:25 a.m., according to the CTA.
