The body of an unidentified man was found Friday in the Calumet River on the South Side, according to police.

The police marine unit was called to the river at 11:30 a.m. near the 3600 block of East 95th Street, according to Chicago police.

The body was recovered and pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified the remains as that of Lane Gregory Schaedel, 53, of Edgewater Beach. An autopsy to determine the cause and manner of his death was pending.
