A driver was killed after crashing into a pole Friday morning in Gresham on the South Side.

He was identified as 20-year-old Keon Murdock of Englewood, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The black Volkswagen Tiguan burst into flames around 6:30 a.m. in the 7800 block of South Racine Avenue, according to Chicago police.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

No one else was injured, according to police, who said the cause of the crash remained under investigation.
