Two men were wounded in a shooting on the Dan Ryan Expressway late Saturday on the South Side.

The shooting happened about 10:34 p.m. in the inbound lanes of I-94 near 71st Street, according to Illinois State Police.

There were four male occupants in a vehicle when someone in another vehicle fired shots, striking the victims’ vehicle multiple times on the driver’s side, ISP said.

The 18-year-old driver was struck in the left thigh; and an 18-year-old man in the seat behind the driver was shot in the stomach, chest and back, ISP said. The other two passengers were not injured.

One victim was taken to St. Bernard Hospital and the other to Stroger Hospital. Both were listed in “stable condition” with injuries that were not thought to be life-threatening, police said.

The suspect vehicle was believed to be a dark colored Dodge Charger, ISP said.

All inbound lanes of the expressway were temporarily closed while police investigated the shooting. Everything was reopened by 3:45 a.m.
