Four people were killed and at least 27 others wounded in shootings across the city between Friday evening and Sunday night.

The weekend’s most recent fatal shooting happened about 11:45 p.m. Sunday in the Chatham neighborhood on the South Side. Officers arrived in the 8100 block of South Ellis and found 45-year-old Darren Smith unresponsive inside a home, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. Smith lived on the same block as the shooting.

Just after 3 a.m. Sunday, a man was shot to death in a Parkway Gardens neighborhood restaurant on the South Side. Officers responding to a call of shots fired found the 23-year-old unresponsive inside the fast-food restaurant in the 6300 block of South King Drive, police said. He was shot in the face and pronounced dead at the scene at 3:15 a.m., authorities said. The medical examiner’s office has not released his name. Two other men were wounded in the shooting and took themselves to St. Bernard Hospital. The men, ages 22 and 24, were each shot once in the lower body and their conditions were stabilized.

About an hour earlier, a 22-year-old man was gunned down in the South Side Englewood neighborhood. Deangelo Martin was standing with a group of people about 2 a.m. in the 7300 block of South Yale when gunfire erupted and he was shot multiple times in the neck. A friend took Martin to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 2:52 a.m., authorities said.

A 16-year-old boy died hours after the weekend’s first shooting, which happened about 6:15 p.m. Friday in the basement of a Lawndale apartment on the West Side. Christopher Brandon-Lucket was with two other people in the basement of the building in the 1500 block of South Kedzie when he was shot once in the face, authorities said. The boy, who lived in the 1800 block of South Fairfield, died at Mount Sinai Hospital at 2:19 a.m. Saturday, and Area Central detectives were conducting a homicide investigation.

At least 25 other people were wounded in more shootings across the city between 6 p.m. Friday and 9 p.m. Sunday, police said.
